BEST BAITS

Crab can be good in the spring for the late run of cod and into the summer for bass and ray. Black lug tipped with either squid or ragworms can be very successful especially in the colder months.

TACKLE

Use a standard beach rod and reel, but it must be capable of allowing you to cast a fair distance at times, although the fish do tend to come in at close ranges at various stages of the tide. Use 15-18lb mainline on either a 6500-size multiplier or fixed-spool reel. Rigs should be paternosters containing two or three hook snoods, with hook sizes to suit the species you are seeking.
