SPECIES

Flounders are caught all year. Bass, eels and soles in summer. Whiting and codling in winter.

BEST BAITS

Peeler crabs are a must for the eels during the early part of summer. Use ragworms for the soles during May to July. Bass love rag and peeler crabs at any time of the year. Harbour rag, known as maddies, tempt the flounders. Whiting like lugworms tipped with fish, while the codling will be caught on lug on its own.

TACKLE

At this venue long casting is not essential, so a light bass rod and reel loaded with 12-15lb line are ideal for the soles and fl ounders in summer. Use a beachcaster with a shockleader to ensure safe angling for cod and good whiting in winter.

The mark is a popular area for people to sit and admire the view, therefore safety is
paramount and a shockleader is advisable at all times.
