This rig is undoubtedly the most commonly used of all shore rigs. The reason why is that it presents two baits of your choosing, therefore doubling your chances of catching. Also, having a choice of baits ensures you can pick the bait that the fish are feeding on.

A Use a very strong swivel to link the rig to your mainline.

B Trap your snood swivel between a pair of beads, followed by a pair of crimps (or stop knots – these allow you to adjust the distance between snoods).

C Choose a hook pattern and size that suits the bait that you intend fishing.

D Make the length of line between snoods long enough so that the two hooks do not touch, and therefore do not tangle.

E Trap your snood swivel between a pair of beads, followed by a pair of crimps (or stop knots – these allow you to adjust the distance between snoods).

F To anchor your baits securely use a breakout lead. In winter, when conditions are dreadful, use anything up to 7oz. In normal summer/autumn conditions you will be able to use 4-6oz leads. In flat calm conditions you may even be able to hold bottom with a plain lead.
